Abstract: La gente usa metáforas cada vez que habla. Algunas de esas metáforas son literarias, dispositivos para hacer que los pensamientos sean más vívidos o entretenidos. Pero la mayoría son mucho más básicas que eso, son "metáforas por las que vivimos", metáforas que usamos sin siquiera darnos cuenta de que las estamos usando. En este libro, George Lakoff y Mark Johnson sugieren que estas metáforas básicas no solo afectan la manera en que comunicamos las ideas, sino que también estructuran nuestras percepciones y entendimientos desde el principio. Reuniendo las perspectivas de la lingüística y la filosofía, Lakoff y Johnson ofrecen una guía intrigante y sorprendente de algunas de las metáforas más comunes y lo que pueden decirnos sobre la mente humana.
